I saw erosion in the plunge pool, where the water had dug out a pool at the base of the falls; I saw deposition on the beaches of the lake where water had washed sand and rocks onto the shore; and I saw physical weathering in that el humongo crack in that rock we were under.

Yesterday we went on a field trip that was very relaxing and fun. I saw erosion for one example we saw on the top of the mountain where water had come running through and washed out a lot of the ground. And another is physical weathering we saw where a tree had grown out of the rock and split it causing enough damage so the rock will eventually fall of the mountain leaving a cliff.

we saw chemical weathering on the tombstones in the graveyard,we also saw deposition when we where in the sandpit the sand was put there over millions of years.

the sandpit we went to at one of the spots is a good example of alot of things, it is a good example of erosion there was a gully near by, chemical weathering because there was rust on the tops of the sand piles. there were lines caused by physical weathering and there were signs of how the sand was dropped off in the sandpile. on the mountain we saw signs of erosion, we could see the mountans had been eroded over time, not to mention rocks and chunks were everywhere.

One example of deposition is a glacial errattic, on mr. hansens front lawn, it was deosited and left by a glacier thousands of years ago, it is really large with a giant crack down the center. Chemical weathering is when acid eats away at rocks, a good example is lichen that grows over thousands of years and eats away at the rock which with decompose the rock and eventually turn the rock into dirt.

One example of physical weathering is the rock in Mr. Hanson’s yard. Parts of the rock were missing and there were gouge marks in it too. One example of chemical weather would be lichen. Which makes acids that eats away at the rock that it’s on.

a glacial erratic is made by when a glacier is passing over a rock and it leaves scrapes on it.

in the sand pit we saw layers and things that look like grooves caused by water running through so one can only assume that a glacer was carrying sediments and when it melted in the spring it deposited more and more layers, it eventually piled up in layers.

For physical weathering we saw plunge pools, the running water ate away at the rock
For chemical weathering we went to a sand pit and saw how the sand had changed colors, and how it had like cemented together
Metamorphism we saw this when we were coming down the mountain, on the big rock, there were black curvy lines that showed how the rock was turned into Metamorphic rock. It had the dark lines that showed the heat and pressure
For Erosion we saw the plunge pool, where the water had dug out a pool at the base of the waterfalls
For deposition on the lake where water had washed sand and rocks onto the shore

I was wrong(which doesn’t happen often) about the moss.It does not show chemical weathering, because it does not dissolve the rock with acid. Lichen, however, does.

olivers wants to add that I saw lichen on top of the tombstones and lichen makes acid and it worns away the letters ingraids in the tomb stone

There’s a big rock in the back of my house out in the woods and it’s really weird shaped and you can see that it was physically wetheared, it had cracks were the water had seeped through. During the big rain storm last friday I noticed that my driveway was being washed away (Erosion) by the rain there were deep chanels were the water had washed away the dirt and big holes for puddles and the brook had washed away the sand on the bottem.
Phyical Wethering- Waring away at matter.
Erosion- Water washing away dirt on a drive and washing away sand in the bottem of a brook.

Chemical Weathering- Is stuff that changes, like sand into rust or sand into soil.
Physical Weathering- On the hike I saw a few rocks that could have been worn down by wind and rain.
Erosion- At Snow falls there was a plunge pool, which is just water that got carried there, or melted there.
Deposition- Is where the rocks got carried to some other place, like at the shore were we hiked, there were rocks tht got carried by water and washed up on the shore.
Metamorphism- Is when things change, like on the hike we saw the huge rock that got changed from one rock to another which is metamorphism.

the rock on the top of singe pole i saw a rock that had a tree growing out of it and the rocks.
What is that rock doing to the rock? Mr. Light

Well, I saw many different things on the field trips yesterday and the day before. There were some examples of chemical weathering on some of the gravestones we were looking at. There was moss and lichen growing on some of the gravestones and it breaks the gravestones down. On the field trip yesterday there were TONS of different things I saw. I saw an example of a glacial erratic, which is when a glaciar picks something up and then carries it for awhile then eventually drops it some place and that is what happened with the rock in Mr. Hanson’s yard. On the same rocks there was big huge cracks in the rock that were probably formed from water getting in the cracks and when it froze, it expanded the cracks. When we went to Snow Falls we saw a plunge pool and that is and example of erosion. The water wore way the rocks to make a big hole where the water now flows. There was also another spot where erosion had occured, it was in the sand pit. There was a small gully where water had washed away sand and sediments. I saw a lot more things but there is too much to type.

1 Physical weathering is the braking up of the rocks when water gets in the cracks of the rocks and frezis.
2 Chemical weathering is the whairing away the rock asssied react whith difrent rocks.
3 Erosion is
Damien: Give me examples of specific things you saw on the trip. Mr. Light

I saw physical weathering and erosion at that huge rock that had a huge split in it and animals living under it, the huge rock was made of granite and the bottom was shisst.

We went on a really fun feild trip yesterday. We went to Jay Hansons house and we saw this huge rock well it called a boulder but that was glacier erratic. It had like a split in the middle of it. Then when we where climbing the Singepole Mountain and Kasey feel on a rock of course he feel because he always does but the rock he feel on had like white in the middle of it from lava.

We saw evidence of physical weathering, by looking at plant roots breaking apart many different rocks.
Some chemical weathering was when we saw the lichen using acid to break the moutain top.
The glacial erratics we saw on the moutain top, and on the way there were examples of deposition.
When we saw small “streams” at the sandpit, that was a form of erosion, because the water was making the sand (aka rock) “dissapear.”
I saw evidence of metamorphism at the cemetery, when we saw different colored streaks in the rocks we saw on the way there, the way back, and at the cemetery itself.

Physical Weathering-When we saw the plunge pool the water was “eating” away at the rock
plunge pool has to also do with erosion where it was dug out!

The glacier erratic got there from the glaicer moving and picking up little rocks and maybe even big rocks then it melted right there and became a huge rock!!

Pysical Wearthering-I saw a huge cliff like thing of sand and rocks and their was roots and plants growing and coming out of cracks of the rock.
Chemical Wearthering-I saw a couple of rocks that had a larva mark in the rock. The mark went all the way around the rock, and inside of that indented line it was lighter then the rest of the rock.
Eroision-When we were hiking there were rocks in the ground all over the place. That’s because when the water was once there it flowed the rocks to one place to another.
Deposision-There was this huge boulder in the middle of a field. It was there because millions of years ago there was water, and when the water dried up, it left the rock there.
Metamorphism-When we went under the rock that came up over us the rock had a lot of layers. Metamorphic caused that to happen and develop the layers.

* Physical Weathering-
There were some plants that grew up between a rock and slipt it apart.
Some rocks i saw were rounded from streams and rain.
* Chemical Weathering-
There was lichen on the rocks, and the acid broke down the rocks.
There was lichen on the graves breaking them down.
* Erosion-
We hiked up a mountain and saw a stream running down it. The streams washed away the dirt and made steep banks.
We also saw a waterfall and there was a large plunge pool under it where the pressure of the water hollowed out a hole in the rock.
* Deposition-
We saw a large glacial erratic at Hayleys Gandpas house.
We also saw a rock wall where someone dug up rocks and stacked them on the sides of the field.
* Metamorphism-
As I was hiking down the mountain i saw a rock with three differnent layers in it.

Physical Weathering – When we went to snow falls the water wore away at the rocks until the broke and fell into the water and was cared away by the river. The rock at the Hansons house was cracked and almost broke inhalf.
Deposition – When we went to the sand pit the sand was droped there by the wind so it was awesome.The rock was also droped by the glacier.
Metamorphis – When we were hiking the mountain that rocks made caves and they were morphed by rocks over the centuries.

The frist stop was a gravel pit and saw that layers of sand had formed over time. We called that deposition.
Then when we were on are way down the hike We saw a huge rock and it came over us all. It was mostlyy weathering.
